Glossary · QA visit (brand quality assurance audit)

What is a QA visit at a hotel?

A QA visit is a hotel brand's quality assurance audit of one property. An inspector walks the hotel, scheduled or unannounced, and scores each brand standard met or not met, usually by section. Findings become corrective actions with an owner and a deadline. It is how the brand verifies its standards on property.

In practice.

  • Who runs it, who answers for it. The brand's quality team runs it under the franchise or management agreement. The GM answers for the result on the day; the operator and the owner answer for it under their agreements.
  • How it is scored. Each standard is marked met, not met or not applicable, then rolled up into a score by section and for the hotel, against a pass line.
  • What happens after. Each miss becomes a finding with an owner and a deadline, and the brand may re-inspect. A single defect becomes a work order; physical shortfalls may become a PIP.
  • What it is not. It is not the property's own inspection program, and it does not change a standard. It checks whether the standard held.

Where Levee fits.

Levee's inspection agent checks a room against the standard as the property's own team walks it, and opens the finding with a photo and a task to the owning team.

Questions

It depends on the brand and the agreement. Most agreements let the brand inspect with or without notice, and many programs are unannounced by design.
